Developer of a front end developer tool has been arrested in Canada.
The Toronto police say the arrest was made in relation to an investigation into the use of malware to target and hack the computer systems of businesses and individuals.
The tool, called the DumpBot, was developed by Kalyani Technologies, and was allegedly used by the attackers to remotely infect victims’ computers, stealing the personal information of those they infected.
Kalyani released a statement saying the company has terminated its relationship with the developers, who were arrested by Canadian law enforcement on Friday.
The company also said it had not received any formal legal advice or legal advice from law enforcement.
It said it is committed to the highest standards of safety and security.
The arrest comes less than two weeks after an attack on the security firm McAfee, which had its servers compromised.
McAfee has been cooperating with the FBI and Canada’s Cyber Crime Task Force.
