The company is adding two more programmers to its developer payroll this year as it ramps up its growth in the area, Axios reports.
Google has been working to recruit and retain a growing number of developers and it has made strides in hiring, as it’s recently ramped up hiring for developers.
The hiring of two new programmers comes on the heels of a new agreement with a software development company, a deal that Google said it signed last week.
In the agreement, Google will pay the company’s software development costs, and the company will be paid $15 per hour, a sign of Google’s confidence in its developers and how they are performing.
The hires also come amid a wave of layoffs at Google in recent weeks, as the company has been losing more developers to other companies and to other tech companies.
Google said last week it would cut 2,000 jobs in its Developer Services division, but that it’s only about 1,000 of those layoffs have actually happened.
